Palatine police: Man found in body of water dies

Palatine police said a man has died after he was found in a body of water.

Police said they responded along with Illinois State Police at approximately 6:11 p.m. to the 1200 block of East Twin Lakes Drive for a report of a suspicious person.

Officers and troopers located an individual matching that person’s description and attempted to make contact with him.

The man entered a nearby body of water and did not resurface, police said.

The Palatine Fire Department initiated rescue efforts, locating him in the water. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Police said they are investigating.
