Man charged with murder in beating death outside Aurora church

An Aurora man is charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of another man outside an Aurora church.

Police were called to the Warehouse Church on the 300 block of East Galena Boulevard just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an unresponsive individual.

Officers found a 57-year-old man with severe head trauma, according to a news release. The man was transported to a hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries.

Investigators determined the victim had gotten into a fight with an acquaintance the night before and suffered the head injuries.

Police identified 31-year-old Luis Miguel Garcia Vazquez of Aurora as a suspect in the case through evidence and witness interviews.

Garcia Vazquez was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is awaiting his first court appearance, police said.
