Mundelein mayor to speak out against bigotry Monday

Mundelein Mayor Robin Meier will issue two proclamations against bigotry during Monday’s village board meeting.

The first will commemorate the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 1967 decision ending all laws that prohibited interracial marriage. The ruling came in the case Loving v. Virginia.

The second proclamation will recognize June as LGBTQ Pride month. It notes that people “should be able to live without fear of prejudice, discrimination, violence, and hatred based on race, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation.”

Monday’s meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. at village hall, 300 Plaza Circle. It’ll be livestreamed at mundelein.org.
