Berwyn man charged with aggravated DUI in fatal Tri-State crash

A Berwyn man was charged Tuesday after officials say he crashed into three workers on the Tri-State Tollway over the weekend, killing one of them.

Paul R. Ong, 37, was charged with one count of aggravated driving under the influence involving death, a felony, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

Ong was driving south on I-294 near Des Plaines shortly before 4:30 am on Saturday morning when he crashed into three tollway workers who were repairing potholes, authorities said. One of the workers was killed in the crash and the other two were injured.

The names of the three victims and conditions of the two surviving workers were not released.
