St. Charles bar loses liquor, gambling licenses

A St. Charles bar has lost its liquor and video gambling licenses over unpaid taxes and unpermitted construction of a kitchen.

Mayor Clint Hull, the city’s liquor commissioner, revoked the license for Global Brew Tap House May 18, according to a news release from the city.

Global Brew is owned by VVAAMA Inc. It was located at 2100 Prairie St.

The city said Global Brew failed to file timely tax returns and pay the city’s alcohol tax for December 2024, January and February of 2025, and August through September 2025.

According to the city, the business also failed to pay the late fees on those taxes on time.

In addition, the city charged the business with building a kitchen and installing commercial kitchen equipment without obtaining a required permit.

There was a liquor commission hearing on the violations April 20. The licensee asked for a continuance to May 18, but failed to appear on that date, or file an answer, respond to the complaint or complete an arraignment form.

The St. Charles location is one of four in Illinois. The others are in Schaumburg, O’Fallon and Edwardsville.

The St. Charles location posted on Facebook on May 28 that it “is temporarily closed … but something exciting is brewing behind the scenes. While our doors may be closed for now, we’re working on what’s next and we can’t wait to share it with all of you in the coming weeks/months ahead.”
