Reexamine case against solar farm

A recent push by a number of constituents in Will County to abandon plans for a proposed 600-megawatt solar farm has garnered much attention.

Their argument that rusting solar farm structures leach contaminates into the ground water is untrue. The fact of the matter is solar panels are encased in tempered glass and sealed to prevent moisture damage, whereas the structural mounts are typically made of galvanized steel or aluminum.

Public support for solar farm projects is essential for a sustainable and green economy. Communities should embrace clean energy development to combat climate change, reduce pollution and create long-term investments. Our future generations depend on it.
