Carol Stream library hosts Tap Dance Day celebration with Flourish Dance Academy

Flourish Dance Academy will present its annual National Tap Dance Day performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at the Carol Stream Public Library, 616 Hiawatha Drive.

The performance will feature Flourish Tap students and Tap Co, along with guest professional dancers Megan Davis, Tristan Bruns, Jessica Chapuis Bronson, and Flourish director Marty Bronson.

Audiences will experience an exciting afternoon of rhythm, music, improvisation, historic tap dance works, and original choreography celebrating the rich tradition of tap dance as a uniquely American art form.

“Tap dance is an art form deeply rooted in rhythm, music, improvisation, and cultural history,” said Marty Bronson, director of Flourish Dance Academy. “National Tap Dance Day gives us an opportunity not only to perform, but to share that tradition and celebrate it with our community.”

National Tap Dance Day is celebrated annually in honor of legendary tap dancer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and recognizes the cultural significance and history of tap dance in America.

The free event is family-friendly and intended for audiences of all ages. Registration is required for admission via cslibrary.org.
