Antioch man charged with trying to run over brother with pickup truck

An Antioch man faces an aggravated assault with a motor vehicle charge alleging he tried to run his brother over with a pickup truck Tuesday, authorities said.

George Stachura, 60, is being held in the Lake County jail awaiting a detention hearing Thursday on the Class 4 felony charge.

He was arrested after Antioch police responded at about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday to a reported disturbance in a parking lot on the 400 block of Orchard Street, authorities said.

Officers were told by a man that his brother, who he identified as George Stachura, got upset with him and tried to run him over before fleeing, police said. The man was able to get out of the way and was not injured, police said.

A witness provided cellphone video of the incident, according to police.

Stachura was found a few hours later and arrested. If convicted of the aggravated assault charge, he faces up to three years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
