Illinois Tree Climbing Championship and Arbor Fair coming to Naperville June 6-7
The Illinois Arborist Association is hosting the 2026 Illinois Tree Climbing Championship and Arbor Fair, taking place June 6-7 at the DuPage County Forest Preserve District’s Greene Valley Forest Preserve — Thunderbird Area in Naperville.
This outdoor event brings together some of the region’s top professional arborists as they compete in a series of challenging events designed to demonstrate the safe and skilled techniques used in professional tree care.
Competitors will showcase their abilities in aerial rescue, work climb, throwline, belayed speed climb, ascent event, and other disciplines that reflect the real-world skills arborists use every day.
The Illinois Tree Climbing Championship serves as both a professional competition and an educational opportunity, highlighting the importance of proper tree care, safety practices, and the critical role arborists play in maintaining healthy urban forests and protecting communities.
In conjunction with the competition, the Illinois Arborist Association will host the Arbor Fair on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring industry exhibitors, equipment demonstrations, educational opportunities, and family-friendly activities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with tree care professionals, explore the latest tools and technology in arboriculture, and learn more about the green industry.
The free event is open to the public, and spectators are encouraged to attend and experience the excitement of professional tree climbing firsthand.
