The Gerrymandered Districts of America
A name change is needed. Instead of USA, we now have the GDA. The Gerrymandered Districts of America. I’m sorry, I said the wrong word. The politicians don’t like the word gerrymandering. It sounds negative (because it is). They say redistricting. It sounds much better.
Whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, or Independent, I can’t see where you would like gerrymandering/redistricting — It allows the political party to distort areas, thereby letting them pick the candidates instead of the voters picking the candidates. Whichever state political party is in power changes the districts so that party picks the candidates. It does no good for an individual state to outlaw the practice because the other states and political parties then take advantage. I personally would like my vote to count for something.
The old USSR (Russia), China, dictatorships, etc., have the political party pick their candidates. And now so do we.
Call your congressman or senator — Ask them to create the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: No gerrymandering (redistricting) anywhere in the USA. And for good measure, throw in age limits for all politicians and judges.
