Kitchen fire damages Naperville apartment unit

Fire officials are estimating $125,000 in damage from a fire in a Naperville apartment building Saturday evening.

A fire alarm was received at the Naperville Emergency Communications Center at 6:36 p.m.

Residents told first responders there was a fire on the third floor of the building in the 30W00 block of Capistrano Court.

The alarm was immediately upgraded, and responding units found a fire in a resident’s kitchen.

Hand lines were deployed, and the fire was extinguished, after which crews remained to put out smoldering embers and make sure the fire was contained.

Only the one unit was deemed uninhabitable, with adjoining units not affected.

There were no reported injuries, and the fire was determined to be accidental.
