Don’t consider ending cultural center lease

I am alarmed to hear talk about not extending the lease for the Indian Trickster Cultural Center in Schaumburg and instead putting in a Schaumburg Historical Museum. Schaumburg has plenty of empty buildings for a Historical Museum. This would look as if we are kicking Native American Indians out of Schaumburg.

I’m not an Indian, but I support their history and their culture. I take my grandchildren to their PowWows & other events. It’s a great tribute and asset to Schaumburg — especially since our Chicago area was once the home of Indigenous people.

This would not be a good look for our community. As we all know, our country is picking on Mexicans, we pick on Jews, people telling lies about Haitians eating our dogs and cats and now, it would look like we’re kicking out Native American Indians.

Think this through. Not a good look for our community. Schaumburg is a leader and role-model community.
