Ascension Illinois event offers free health care to many not often able to receive it
Ascension Illinois provided free health care services for the uninsured and underserved of the Northwest suburbs at its Medical Mission at Home event Saturday.
Hundreds of healthcare professionals, volunteers and community partners took part in the effort at Willow Creek Care Center in South Barrington.
Free medical, pharmacy, podiatry, foot-washing, specialty, dental and wellness services were provided to Illinois residents for four hours.
Medical Mission at Home was started in 2007 to provides compassionate care to people facing barriers to traditional healthcare access.
No insurance, payment or appointment were required for most services.
Care was offered on a first-come, first-served basis with language interpreters on-site.
Many of the recipients were believed to be people not regularly able to receive health care.
