Lake Forest Fire Department rescues pets from structure fire

Lake Forest firefighters saved two dogs and one cat from a residential structure fire this afternoon; no firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.

Lake Forest Fire was dispatched for a report of an outside smoke investigation near Westleigh and Green Bay roads at about 2 pm.

Firefighters observed smoke coming from the second-floor roof area of a home. Further investigation revealed an active fire in the attic space over the garage.

Firefighters successfully rescued all three animals while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
