Baseball fans unite to fight hunger in Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Step Up to the Plate Challenge
This season, baseball fans across Northern Illinois are invited to step up to the plate for their neighbors through Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Step Up to the Plate Challenge.
The friendly fundraising competition aims to bring Northside and Southside baseball fans together to achieve a common goal: providing nutritious food to community members facing hunger.
Now through the end of the Crosstown Classic series on Sunday, May 17, fans can donate in support of their team while making a major impact in their community. Every dollar donated translates to $8 worth of groceries for kids, families, and seniors across Northern Illinois Food Bank’s 13-county service area.
“Baseball fans are passionate, loyal, and always ready to show up for their team,” said Julie Yurko, President and CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank. “The Step Up to the Plate Challenge is a fun way to channel that energy into something meaningful: helping provide meals and hope to families across our communities.”
Participants can choose to support the Northside or Southside team, and donations will be tracked throughout the Crosstown Classic series. Bragging rights are on the line, but the real winners will be local children, families, and seniors who benefit from increased access to nutritious food.
Northern Illinois Food Bank encourages fans of all ages to join the challenge, spread the word, and help knock hunger out of the park.
