Bulls bolster front office by hiring Magic’s Stephen Mervis, Nets’ Acie Law: Sources

The Chicago Bulls are filling out their new front office.

New executive vice president Bryson Graham made two hires to his cabinet this week, tabbing Orlando Magic assistant general manager Stephen Mervis as senior vice president of basketball operations, and bringing on Acie Law, the Brooklyn Nets’ director of player personnel, as Chicago’s vice president of player personnel, league sources confirmed to The Athletic.

Mervis spent the past 12 seasons inside the Magic’s front office and is well regarded as a cap specialist who worked closely with Orlando executive vice president of basketball operations Pete D’Alessandro. Mervis also has helped grow the Tulane Professional Basketball Negotiation Competition as a midseason retreat for NBA personnel, as well as an incubator for front-office talent.

Law began his career as a Sacramento Kings scout, then worked with the Oklahoma City Thunder as the director of amateur scouting. During his time in Oklahoma City, the franchise selected players Cason Wallace and Ajay Mitchell before Law joined the Nets ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Law, who was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks as the No. 11 pick in 2007, briefly played for the Bulls during the 2009-10 season. He and Graham were college teammates at Texas A&M. Law played four seasons in the NBA and also was a two-time EuroLeague champion while playing in Greece.
