Policies put military over environment

This is in regards to a recent article describing the Trump administration's payments to companies to abandon offshore wind projects. This is a form of bribery, and puts our children's future at risk. Our continued dependence on fossil fuels serves no purpose other than to line the pockets of the ultra rich, keep oligarchs in power, and control the populace.

Furthermore, the White House is seeking to cut EPA funding by 52% ($4.6 billion) while also seeking to increase defense spending by 44% ($1.5 trillion). Not only does this increase the deficit and contribute to spiraling national debt, but it slashes funding to an organization dedicated to preserving life while boosting funding to the military which, by definition, destroys life.

As a person of faith, this strikes me as the opposite of what the world and our nation need right now.

A government that does less to stop pollution and more to make war is destructive by definition. I'm grateful that Senators Durbin and Duckworth have joined the cause of robust EPA funding and EPA accountability in matters of environmental justice. Please look up your local Climate Hope Affiliates (CHA) chapter and contact your representative to demand they do the same.
