New public works director hired in Mundelein

Mundelein’s public works and engineering department has a new leader.

The village board recently agreed to hire Robert Greenfield for the position. Greenfield attended the session and recited the oath of office after the vote.

Greenfield succeeds Adam Boeche, who left the job in early January. Boeche had led the department since 2011, after similar jobs in Des Plaines and Prospect Heights.

The public works and engineering department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of village infrastructure and equipment, from streets to wastewater treatment. It oversees snow removal, flood assistance and other services.
