Authorities identify man found dead near Chicago Executive Airport as Prospect Heights resident

A man found dead near Chicago Executive Airport Sunday was identified as a 68-year-old Prospect Heights resident.

The man’s name was John Folan, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police believe Folan may have been the victim of a hit-and-run crash.

Officers discovered Folan’s body at about 9 a.m. Sunday near 79 E. Palatine Frontage Road.

At the time officers arrived, there were no witnesses present and no individuals or vehicles on scene appeared to be connected to Folan, according to police. His body was found near a popular viewing area at the airport where people watch planes takeoff and land, authorities said.

Folan’s death remains under investigation by Prospect Heights police and the Major Case Assistance Team accident investigators.
