Fire leaves Bartlett home uninhabitable
Authorities are investigating the cause of that left a Bartlett home uninhabitable Saturday morning.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, which occurred shortly after 10 a.m. in the 100 block of Silbury Drive, according to the Bartlett Fire District.
Firefighters called to the scene arrived at 10:07 a.m. to find a heavy fire coming from the garage in the front of a single-family home, officials said.
The first fire crews pulled two hose lines and aggressively attacked the fire from the exterior then moved inside the building, according to the fire district. Additional firefighters pulled a third hose line to keep flames from spreading to an adjacent home and searched the building for possibly trapped occupants.
The fire was declared under control at 11 a.m., but firefighters continued to ventilate smoke and fire gases, and perform salvage, overhaul and investigative activities for some time after the fire was extinguished, authorities said.
Damage estimates were not available Sunday.
Firefighters from the Streamwood, Fox River Countryside, Hanover Park, South Elgin, Elgin, Roselle and West Chicago fire departments assisted at the scene. The Bartlett Police Department and Hanover Township Emergency Services assisted with traffic, crowd control and support functions.
