Drowning suspected as cause of death for body pulled from Fox River
A man whose body was found in the Fox River on Wednesday appears to have drowned, the Kane County coroner’s office reported Friday.
The man was elderly and lived in South Elgin, according to officials. His identity is being withheld until relatives are notified.
The body was discovered around 9:10 a.m. near the west bank of the river, near the 200 block of North Second Street (Route 31) in downtown St. Charles.
The coroner is awaiting results of toxicology tests to make a final determination of the cause and manner of death.
