Gurnee, Lindenhurst police investigating rash of overnight burglaries to businesses

Police in Gurnee and Lindenhurst are investigating what may be related burglaries to several businesses over the past several days.

Lindenhurst police said four businesses were burglarized about 3 a.m. Saturday. Gurnee police reported multiple businesses were targeted then and also in the early morning hours Tuesday.

In Gurnee, burglars used an object to shatter the front glass doors or windows of multiple businesses and once inside tried to get into cash registers, according to police. The amounts taken are being investigated.

Gurnee police said the break-ins are consistent with a pattern reported April 14 in which multiple businesses in the village were similarly targeted in the early morning hours. Police said detectives are working to determine if the same people are responsible.

Suspect descriptions were not available as they were wearing masks and gloves and fled before police arrived. Gurnee police said they have increased patrols in commercial areas.

Lindenhurst police said it appears the burglaries there may be related to those in Gurnee, but that hasn’t been confirmed. A Lindenhurst investigator has been in contact with neighboring agencies, police said.
