Getting in touch with nature at Wheeling Earth Day celebration

From scenic walks and kite launches, to environmental education and animal encounters, Sunday was a celebration of all things nature in Wheeling.

The Wheeling Park District hosted an Earth Day celebration giving visitors to its Heritage Park to experience Mother Nature in all her forms.

The form most popular with young attendees were the scaly visitors from JG’s Reptile Show.

Daniela Chavez Lira, director of public relations for the park district, said organizers were “super excited to be able to bring some resources and fun into the community.”

“It's definitely important to the park district,” she added.
