Claire’s to move North American headquarters from Hoffman Estates to Rosemont
Claire's, a global accessories retailer and favorite of teens and tweens, plans to move its North American headquarters from Hoffman Estates to Rosemont.
Newmark, a commercial real estate firm, Thursday said it has arranged a 43,200-square-foot headquarters lease for parent company Claire’s Holdings LLC at Columbia Centre III in Rosemont.
Since 1974, Claire’s has been the trendy fashion destination for affordable jewelry, cosmetics, accessories and ear-piercing services for tweens, teens and girls between 3 and 18 years of age and has 2,300 stores worldwide, according to the company website.
Last summer, the company in a bankruptcy filing said it would be closing 291 U.S. stores including 16 in Illinois and several in the suburbs. The parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2018 and for a second time last August.
Claire’s weeks later sold its North American business operations to Ames Watson, a private holding company based in Columbia, Maryland. In the release, Claire's is described by Newmark as a “portfolio company” of Ames Watson.
Claire's North American headquarters is at 2400 W. Central Road in Hoffman Estates. The new space at Columbia Centre III, 9295 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., in Rosemont is expected to open in early 2027.
Columbia Centre III is a nine-story office building totaling 238,696 square feet, according to Newmark. Amenities include a fitness center, 24/7 access, on-site dining and ample parking.
The building is near the Rosemont CTA Blue Line station and offers direct transit to downtown Chicago and O'Hare International Airport, according to Newmark.
Claire's new location closer to the Chicago business district will enhance access to talent while staying connected to its suburban workforce, according to Newmark.
Claire's was represented in the transaction by Newmark Senior Managing Director John Clark and Associate Director Sean Moran, in collaboration with Spence Mehl of RCS Real Estate Advisors.
“Claire's was seeking a modern, amenity-rich workspace in a highly accessible location that would support both talent recruitment and retention,” according to Moran.
“We're proud,” he added, “to represent the company in securing a headquarters that aligns with its strategic goals and sets the stage for its next stage of growth.”
According to Newmark Research, tenant interest in well-located modern offices is expected to remain steady in 2026, which highlights the appeal of properties like Columbia Centre III.
