Two extricated from rollover crash in Gurnee

Two passengers were extricated after being trapped in a rollover crash Tuesday evening on Route 41 and Ferndale Street in Gurnee.

Gurnee police said a Honda SUV traveling on Ferndale was in the intersection to turn left onto northbound Route 41 about 7:30 p.m. when it was struck by a Pontiac Grand Am. The collision caused a secondary crash involving a Chevrolet HHR.

Two passengers were trapped when the Honda SUV overturned, police said, and they were extricated by firefighters.

Drivers and passengers from all three vehicles were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Northbound Route 41 was closed for about 45 minutes. No citations were issued pending the outcome of the investigation, according to police.
