Floor Coverings International shares flooring trends alongside Grand Opening celebration in Deerfield

Local couple Joey and Kim Sherman officially celebrated the grand opening of their Floor Coverings International business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community members and local officials, including village of Deerfield Trustee Elaine Jacoby. The event took place at their Deerfield office on Lake-Cook Road, but their flooring arrives at customers’ homes or offices in a Mobile Flooring Showroom stocked with the latest the industry has to offer.

“We are already doing jobs in the area,” Joey said, “and what we are seeing are spring/summer flooring trends with people wanting to replace older floors with the newest materials on the market, of which we have 3,000 samples. Our customers are drawn to surfaces that can handle kids, pets and heavy daily use without giving up style. With kids home for the summer and lots of outdoor play going on with pets, floors are taking a beating.”

According to Floor Coverings International Senior Director of Brand Marketing Katie Pynnonen, homes with kids, pets, entertaining spaces, or constant foot traffic need something different than a rarely used room.

“Carpet, scratch-resistant surfaces, pet-friendly materials, and easy-maintenance options have gained traction because they help people live more comfortably in their homes,” she said.
