Late night garage fire in Kildeer leaves home uninhabitable
A late-night garage fire in Kildeer Tuesday left the attached home uninhabitable.
The Lake Zurich Fire Department was notified of the blaze just after 9 p.m. by residents of the two-story, single-family home on the 21400 block of West Boschome Drive who reported seeing flames glowing inside the garage.
The residents were able to exit safely with a family dog and were uninjured. A firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, fire officials said.
The fire was largely contained to the garage.
Fire officials said it took nearly an hour and a half to extinguish because of a large amount of materials being stored in the garage and a lack of fire hydrants in the area.
The house suffered smoke and water damage.
No damage estimate was initially available.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
