An updated automobile service station and mart on East Northwest Highway moved a step closer to full operation.
The village council Monday supported an ordinance approving a special use transfer to allow continued operation of a gas station and convenience mart at 850 E. Northwest Highway.
The site had sat vacant for years until a new owner secured a special use in 2023 to remodel and reopen it. Officials said the project is in the building permit process, with the special use previously extended.
The station is currently operating on temporary power and final connection by ComEd is pending. A valid building permit runs through July and an environmental health inspection will be required.
