Community donates 4,600 stuffed animals to support children in crisis
Through the generosity of parishioners and the dedication of volunteers, more than 4,600 stuffed animals were collected and distributed to 23 first responder departments and three nonprofit organizations serving children in need.
The initiative, led by the Bishop O’Neill Assembly Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Ladies Auxiliary while partnering with St. Mary Church in Huntley, St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Dundee, and St. Mary Church in Gilberts, reflects the Lord’s call to serve the most vulnerable.
“These stuffed animals may seem simple, but they become a source of peace and comfort for children experiencing fear and uncertainty,” said Ray Mueller.
A special presentation was held at St. Mary’s Church in Huntley, where first responders and community partners gathered in gratitude and fellowship.
The event included a blessing, asking the Lord's protection over those who serve and the children who will receive these gifts.
