Chrencik selected as Buffalo Grove Firefighter of the Year
Buffalo Grove Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Chrencik received the 2025 Rotary Firefighter of the Year, an award given by his department peers.
Chrencik, who was honored at Monday’s Buffalo Grove Village Board meeting, also serves on the department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team. Additionally, he trains other firefighters, helping guide them as they transition from classroom learning to real-world emergency situations.
“(Chrencik) consistently demonstrates exceptional knowledge and professionalism in the performance of his duties. He upholds the highest standards within the department,” said Juliet Ziak, president of the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove, who presented Chrencik with the award.
Behind the scenes, he has devoted countless hours to his work with ImageTrend, the department's EMS reporting software system, and the National Emergency Response Information System, which provides critical fire and hazard data to improve emergency response and preparedness.
Chrencik said he was thankful for the leadership of his fellow firefighters.
“Being selected for this is a tribute to all the hard work of all the members who came before me,” he said.
The Rotary Club will donate $500 in Chrencik's name — $250 to the Rotary Foundation and $250 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Chrencik's charity of choice.
