Gurnee police investigate commercial burglaries

Police are working to identify the suspects responsible for a series of overnight commercial burglaries on Tuesday.

Shortly before 4 a.m., officers from the Gurnee Police Department were dispatched to a business in the 3900 block of Washington Street after a burglar alarm was activated.

According to a news release, the officers found that the offenders had broken into five businesses within the same commercial area, breaking windows and stealing money from cash registers.

The total amount of cash stolen remains under investigation.

Though no detailed descriptions of the suspects are currently available, surveillance footage shows several individuals breaking the front windows and entering the businesses before fleeing the area, the release stated.
