Hersey’s Nawrot commits to Kentucky
Hersey quarterback Jake Nawrot — whose recruiting stock skyrocketed over the last several months — announced his verbal commitment to Kentucky on Sunday.
Nawrot chose the Wildcats among nearly two dozen scholarship offers, most from Power Four conference schools including much of the Big Ten. Kentucky was the first of Nawrot’s unofficial visits this spring, a list that included Florida State, Oregon, Northwestern, Iowa and Kansas State.
“Let’s go BIG BLUE NATION!!” Nawrot posted Sunday on X. “I am so blessed for all the support and encouragement through this all, as well as every team that took a chance on me and I’ve built a relationship with. Go Cats!!”
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound junior, named the co-offensive player of the year in the Mid-Suburban League East in the fall, stunned with his rise after the season ended. At one time the 25th-ranked quarterback in the nation by Rivals, Nawrot soared to No. 2 nationally for quarterbacks and No. 32 for the entire Class of 2027 in their most recent rankings.
Nawrot set Hersey a trio of program records last season by throwing for 3,078 yards and 41 touchdowns while completing 71% of his passes.
Nawrot, who was named the top quarterback at last month’s Elite 11 regional camp, was recently invited to the Elite 11 finals this summer in Los Angeles.
