Kane County seeks new ethics adviser
Kane County is seeking a new ethics adviser because the current one is retiring.
The county board chairman appoints the adviser for a three-year term, with the consent of the county board.
Former judge Grant Wegner has held the position since 2012.
The adviser guides elected officials and employees on the county’s ethics ordinance, including interpreting the code of conduct, compliance with ethics rules and conflict-of-interest issues. The adviser also does ethics training and reviews potential violations or complaints, referring matters to the Ethics Commission.
Applicants must have a law degree or a master’s degree in public administration, and at least five years of experience in law, public service, law enforcement, academia or as a member of the clergy.
They cannot be an elected official or political candidate, a member of a public board, or work for the county.
A copy of the ethics ordinance is available on the county website at kanecountyil.gov.
To apply, submit a cover letter and resume to Jane Tallitsch in the Kane County Board Office at tallitschjane@kanecountyil.gov.
The deadline is April 30.
