Parents know that nagging and micromanaging aren’t effective. What does work is helping teens develop self-discipline, responsibility and confidence in their own abilities. Ramírez will return to GPS to help children develop the positive, lifelong habits needed to thrive. He will provide strategies to help calm the worries about school and life that have resulted in increasing levels of anxiety and depression in today’s teens.
Participants will learn how to address irritability, poor school performance, and a lack of motivation. Ramírez will also discuss the role emotional intelligence plays in a child’s lifelong success. He will offer guidance on how to respond to behaviors adults might not understand and help caregivers foster skills that are essential for every teen. Ramírez will provide a toolkit for parents to teach the very skills that lead to educational and career success so their children can lead a more fulfilling life.
Ramírez coordinates programs for families in Chicago and various Illinois school districts and is the author of 10 mental health publications. He is president of the Family First Organization and has extensive experience in clinical psychology, couples therapy, and family counseling inside and outside the United States.
All are welcome to the free weekly GPS events, and no registration is required.
