A woman has been charged with reckless homicide, accused of hitting and killing a motorcyclist Wednesday night in St. Charles.
Morgan Mroz, 29, of West Chicago, is charged with failure to report a crash involving death; aggravated DUI — crash causing death; reckless homicide; and possession of a controlled substance, according to St. Charles police. All the charges are felonies.
The crash happened around 10:52 p.m. at Country Club Road and North 5th Avenue (Route 25). An SUV hit the motorcyclist and left the scene, police say witnesses told them.
The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man from Elgin, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The SUV and Mroz were found nearby.
She is in the Kane County jail, awaiting a pretrial detention hearing. Jail records indicate she is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
