Two dead after Downers Grove crash

Two people were killed in a weekend car crash in Downers Grove.

Police were withholding the victims’ names.

The collision occurred about 6:50 p.m. Friday at Highland Avenue and 35th Street. A vehicle turned from eastbound 35th Street onto northbound Highland was hit by another auto heading south on Highland, according to a municipal news release.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck died on the scene. A passenger died at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, according to the news release.

Downers Grove police and the DuPage M.E.R.I.T. Major Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating.
