Pooches pursue treat-filled eggs at Hound Dog Hunt

Around 100 dogs, along with their owners, descended on a grassy field in search of 2,000 treat-filled plastic eggs Saturday during the Palatine Hound Dog Hunt to the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater in Palatine.

Promoted as a good old-fashioned egg hunt for dogs, the pooches tracked down the colorful eggs then had their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Sponsors had tables nearby and distributed a variety of dog-related items and goodie bags.

“Palatine is a very dog-friendly community, and we’ve been doing this for 17 years, sometimes in snow and rain,” said Palatine Park District Special Interest Coordinator Lisa Schroeder. “The owners love it. It’s a great way to get your picture taken with the bunny and your dog.”
