Lake Villa man charged with possessing child sex abuse materials
A 43-year-old Lake Villa man is facing charges of possessing child sex abuse materials after a two-month investigation by Lake County authorities.
According to a Lake County sheriff’s office news release, Nicholas J. Gillespie is accused of downloading 80 gigabytes of files believed to contain child sex abuse materials.
Investigators, using specially trained electronic detecting dogs, searched Gillespie’s home Wednesday and recovered evidence that ultimately led him to being charged with possessing the materials.
Additional charges are pending, authorities said.
Gillespie is being held at the Lake County jail and is due in court today for his first appearance.
