Two injured in McHenry house fire

Two people were injured Tuesday in a house fire in McHenry County.

The fire was reported around 3:45 p.m. on the 1200 block of N. Chapel Hill Road, according to a report from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District. Responding crews found fire visible from a window and were able to extinguish it in under 10 minutes.

Four people had exited the home by the time fire crews arrived, and two of them were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Though the fire was contained to the living room and kitchen, the rest of the house experienced extensive smoke and water damage, according to the report. The home is uninhabitable following the fire, and the incident remains under investigation by the MTFPD and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
