Police say 'road rage' leads to shooting in Lake Forest
Lake Forest police are investigating a shooting they believe began as a road rage incident between drivers of two vehicles late Wednesday.
Police officials said they responded to the intersection of routes 41 and 60 just before 8 p.m. after reports of gunfire and a person who had been shot.
Once on scene, officers located a man who had been shot in the leg. The injured man was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.
Investigators reported that the man was shot following a road rage incident at the intersection.
Witnesses told police the victim was driving a dark-colored SUV and the suspect vehicle was a white Dodge Charger with two Mexican flags in the rear window.
The witnesses reported the victim and the driver of the Dodge exited their vehicles when they stopped at a red light at the intersection and got into a "heated" argument, ultimately leading to an exchange of gunfire.
The white Dodge was last seen driving west on Route 60 and possibly has damage to the rear window from one or more gunshots.
Police recovered one handgun and several spent casings. No charges have been filed yet.
Anyone with additional information about the shooting is urged to call Lake Forest police at (847) 810-3810.
