Northern Illinois Food Bank’s 11th annual ‘A Cup of Hope’ fundraiser benefits hunger relief
On Sunday, March 1, nearly 450 guests gathered for Northern Illinois Food Bank's 11th annual A Cup of Hope, presented by Cultivate Power and hosted by the Executive Women’s Council, for an afternoon of tea, connection, and purpose.
Together, among friends, colleagues, and acquaintances, attendees were reminded of the incredible impact that can be made when they come together in support of our neighbors.
Organizers are deeply grateful to emcee Judy Hsu of ABC 7 Chicago and a Food Bank board member, and to Julie Yurko, president and CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank, for sharing powerful insights into the mission and the growing need across our region.
As part of the event, attendees also heard from Sue who shared her inspiring story of resilience and hope.
Because of the generosity of sponsors, especially Cultivate Power, BP America, Citgo Lemont Refinery, Kirkland & Ellis, Antunes, ArentFox Schiff, and the Borman-Full Family, along with our generous guests, donors, and the meaningful donation match from Executive Women’s Council members Karen Golden and Whitney Gretz, more than $244,900 was raised at the annual fundraiser.
Because thanks to partnerships with manufacturers, farmers, and donors, the food bank can take $1 and turn it into $8 of groceries, plus a generous match was provided to donors at the event, funds raised translates to nearly $2 million worth of groceries for our neighbors facing hunger.
Northern Illinois Food Bank is grateful for everyone who participated in the silent auction and raffles.
Congratulations to attendees who went home with the stunning pair of diamond earrings valued at $3,800, generously donated by State Street Jewelers, a dream vacation sponsored by Greenberg Traurig LLP and Nicor Gas, and to everyone who left with a silent auction or raffle package.
Most importantly, every person who attended, sponsored, donated, bid, or raised a paddle stepped forward to ensure our neighbors are not alone during difficult times. Every dollar donated represents a family, child, or senior who will not have to skip a meal.
