Palatine police: Man found dead in car with gunshot wound

A 20-year-old man died of an apparent gunshot wound after police found him in a car reportedly involved in several crashes Monday night, Palatine police said.

Palatine police were called to the 1200 block of East Prairie Brook Drive at 9:39 p.m. for a report of a vehicle that had struck multiple parked vehicles and a dumpster.

Officers found the man in the driver’s seat of a black Audi four-door vehicle.

Palatine firefighters were called to the location and took the man to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Palatine police are investigating, along with the Major Case Assistance Team.

North Rand Road is closed between Route 53 and Dundee Road and is expected to remain closed through the morning rush hour.
