Renewal notices are invoices, not reminders

Regarding Jake Griffin's article Feb. 24: Why does the media persist in designating the license plate sticker renewal as a "reminder?" No, it is not a reminder. It is an annual invoice, period.

Is my property tax bill also a "reminder?" Are all of my other bills from utilities and credit cards also reminders? It sounds like the state of Illinois had some attorney make up the new designation as a "reminder" instead of the invoice that it actually is. I think it's disgrace that the Schaumburg police are ticketing cars in Woodfield Mall. It sounds like just another tax opportunity piggybacked onto the license tax.
