Q&A
Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?
I believe more dedicated Democrats are crucially needed in all levels of government during the current challenging social climate in our country.
If you are an incumbent, describe a few important initiatives you’ve led. If you’re not an incumbent, describe a few ways you would contribute to the board.
My analytical and communication skills along with knowledge of local government gained during my work as a longtime professional journalist would be my contributions to the board.
Is there a specific service or amenity that is lacking in the county? If so, how do you propose to provide and fund it?
I believe at this time we must focus on preservation of the wonderful amenities we already have.
With the county's budget being squeezed by federal funding cuts and other factors, what initiatives would you support to increase revenue and/or save money?
Continue monitoring departments' spending; postpone all but essential county projects during this time of belt tightening.
What is the single most important issue facing your district, and how should the county address it?
Revenue shortage. Halt plans for non-essential initiatives. Consider staff attrition when possible to reduce salary expenditures, the county's major cost.
Why are you the best person to serve in this role?
I'm a staunch Democrat who believes in pursuing policies fair for everyone. I'm open to new ideas and change. I'm a communicator.
