Donor Club of Elgin raises $14,000 for local charities at annual Book Review

The Donor Club of Elgin held its annual Book Review on Oct. 1, 2025, with more than 200 attendees.

Leslie Goddard presented “AKA Lucy,” a tribute to Lucille Ball. The organization raised $14,000 at this event to donate to local nonprofit organizations which focus on social services to meet the basic human needs for health and well-being.

The annual contributions in 2025 went to:

• Care Center at Bethesda Church of God in Christ (food for those in need)

• Community Crisis Center (women and children, domestic violence/emergency food services)

• Food for Greater Elgin

• Centre de informacion (food)

• All People’s Interfaith Food Pantry

• Well Child Center (supports children for dental, medical and nutrition)

• One Hope United (day care and child wellness)

The next Book Review will be on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at Villa Olivia in Bartlett with Leslie Goddard presenting “Audrey Hepburn: A Life of Beautiful Uncertainty.”
