Fire leaves Hoffman Estates townhouse uninhabitable but causes no injuries
No injuries were reported after Hoffman Estates firefighters extinguished a townhouse blaze within a half-hour of arriving Tuesday afternoon, but the home was left uninhabitable.
Firefighters called to the 2200 block of Seaver Lane at 12:25 p.m. encountered a large amount of smoke from a growing fire inside, Hoffman Estates Fire Chief Alan Wax said. Conditions worsened quickly, he added.
Because the structure contained multiple attached units, additional resources were called upon. But crews on scene aggressively fought and extinguished the fire while the additional aid was still on the way from other communities, Wax said.
Investigators were still working late Tuesday to determine the cause of the fire and estimate damages.
