NaperVoice invites you to 'Gather in Gratitude' at Nov. 19 concert
NaperVoice, a philanthropic choir, is Naperville's newest performing arts organization.
As at its inaugural concert at Grace United Methodist Church last year, the theme of "gratitude" will be explored on the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday at "Gather in Gratitude 2: From Bach to the Beatles and Beyond."
Musical genres including classical, world music, and pop will be represented in vocal works by Bach, Ešenvalds, Rorem, Walker, Lennon/McCartney, and Spencer.
Three significant anniversaries will be observed through music, including the 50th anniversary this year of the end of the Vietnam Conflict, and the 100th anniversary of the birth of American composer Ned Rorem.
NaperVoice also will perform "Prayer for Ukraine" in Ukrainian, conducted by the college student conducting intern Nazarii Mykhailenko and accompanied by the Chicago Ukrainian Bandura Ensemble.
The concert will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road in Naperville.
NaperVoice is a 35- voice auditioned choir, composed of professional and volunteer singers from 20 Chicago-area communities, conducted by Philip Spencer, founding conductor/artistic director.
Proceeds will benefit this concert's designated local charitable organization, Loaves & Fishes Community Services.
Tickets are $20 or $15 for age 60 or older or youth, age 12 or older. Admission is free for those age 11 or younger.
