Elgin police: Body found near dam ID’d as man missing since November

The body of an adult man found by a dam Tuesday evening has turned a missing person investigation into a death investigation.

Officers from the Elgin and South Elgin Fire Departments responded to the area of Fox River near the 100 block of North Center Street around 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, along with detectives from the Major Investigations Division and the Kane County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday identified the man as 53-year-old Ulises “Miguel” Segura Dorantes, who had been reported missing since Nov. 29.

The coroner says the preliminary cause of death is drowning. Toxicology samples have been sent out for testing.
