Buffalo Grove High School’s Orchesis Presents ‘Mesmerize’

Buffalo Grove High School’s Orchesis, under the direction of Michelle Carrison and assistant Hannah Vaselaney, will take the stage for their highly anticipated annual dance show, “Mesmerize,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 19, 20, and 21.

This dynamic performance will feature 19 unique dances, highlighting the versatility of Orchesis dancers in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz and tap. Fourteen of the pieces are choreographed by students, while five showcase the artistry of professional guest choreographers from the Chicago area, including Talia Luzzo of Giordano Dance Chicago; Claire Hutchins, a D214 Orchesis alum; Colleen Hollis, a renowned Chicagoland choreographer; and Chris Xayarath, a hip hop choreographer currently performing at Disney World.

A special highlight of the show is the Adagio dance, featuring a group of seven Buffalo Grove student-athletes performing alongside Orchesis members.

Tickets will be available for students at a discounted rate of $7 during lunch hours, the week of the show. Adult tickets are $10. All tickets sold at the door are $10. In addition to the performances, audience members can participate in a nightly raffle featuring exciting prizes.
