Floor Coverings International | Northern Chicago Suburbs, locally owned by Joey and Kim Sherman, is officially open and celebrating its grand opening, bringing thousands of flooring options directly to customers’ homes through the company’s Mobile Flooring Showroom.

“After years leading teams and managing complex projects in large organizations, I wanted to build something durable and local — something I could grow with my family and for my family,” said Joey Sherman, co-owner of Floor Coverings International | Northern Chicago Suburbs. “This model stood out because it puts customers first, delivers a seamless experience, and offers the stability I was looking for when I decided to pursue business ownership.”

Before launching the business, Joey Sherman built a career in leadership, customer experience, and project management across organizations including Disney, Tribune Media, CBS Radio, the city of Chicago Mayor’s Office of Special Events, CDW, and XVP Studios. His experience developing systems for consistent outcomes now shapes the local operation, with an emphasis on clear communication, reliable timelines and a smooth customer journey.

Co-owner Kim Sherman previously worked as a teacher’s aide supporting children with severe and profound special needs — experience that developed her calm, patient communication style and detail-oriented approach. She oversees day-to-day operations, including scheduling, logistics, and customer communications, often serving as the primary point of contact for homeowners.

“Our goal is to make the flooring process easy and transparent,” said Kim Sherman. “Customers should always know what to expect, feel heard, and feel supported from the first call through the final walk-through.”

Floor Coverings International’s Mobile Flooring Showroom eliminates the need for customers to travel between stores or haul heavy samples. Instead, the showroom comes to the customer’s door with over 3,000 flooring options, allowing homeowners to view selections in their own lighting and alongside their existing décor.
